My goal in life is to work in the fashion industry in whatever capacity I can. Previously, I have had the opportunity to work at Nordstrom, both as an intern with the design board and as a service assistant at several of their retail locations. Thanks to my time with them, I have gained a working knowledge of both customer service and clothing design.
I worked as an intern at the Utah based clothing company known as Shabby Apple. I was responsible for organizing their online inventory, along with assisting the company’s social media department in managing their Pinterest page. Additionally, I stood in during many of their marketing meetings, in which I gleaned a great deal of information related to strategies that companies use to further their presence in both physical and online retail. My goal is to have my own online retail business and the interdisciplinary major allows me to combine my love for apparel design and my entrepreneurial drive.
I am currently studying apparel entrepreneurship at Brigham Young University Idaho campus. When not in school, I devote my time to finding a foothold in fashion, and am gathering as much job experience as I possibly can. Thanks to the positions I previously held, I have gained several proficiencies related to marketing, with a focus on social media. Furthermore, my college studies have granted me an increased ability to see with both a creative focus and an artistic eye.
My last project is based of this run down Drive Inn movie theater that is in the Small town were I attend College. It’s called Teton Vu. It’s Nic and I’s favorite place for date night. Sitting in your own car all warm and cuddly and eating snacks.
I have always loved the idea of drive in movies. I love how it is portrayed in films like Greece or even Disney Pixar’s Cars. That vibe is iconic. I wanted to capture that aesthetic. That date night mood and feeling. I wanted this to be line inspired by those moments before your date when you are picking out your outfit roommates and you are trying to find the perfect balance between looking awesome but not trying to hard.
I want my clothes to portray a feeling. I want girls to wear my clothes and feel like they are going date to drive through with the “dreamy football player” or a night out with girls and you guys all look fly and take the perfect instagram picture.
I designed this because I was Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire and the freaky part with the mermaids came on. After that I went on Pinterest and was scrolling through mermaid pics. I got nostalgic and I was starting thinking about H20 and Aquamarine. So there wasn't not a lot to it. I was just like mermaids are sexy. I am 21 and I still low key want to be a mermaid. Let's make a lingerie line based on mermaids. That's how it came to be.
Constructing this line will be the most exciting part of this project because I want to do a lot of embellishments and bead work.
I love Lingerie but I want it to be comfy. A lot of the time its itchy. I wanted to use fabrics that were silky and soft but still sexy like lace.
My little sister is a ballerina and I went to one of her concerts and I was inspired by how athletic they were. I loved how strong and solid they were at the same time delicate and beautiful. Ballerinas are tough as nails! Have you seen those thigh muscles its insane! That’s why they are the perfect muse for an athletic line of clothing! I took inspiration from what my sister wears to practice and mixed that with the what women actually want to wear the gym or to yoga classes.
My name is Sadie. I just want to be make things! I love that. I love transforming things, bringing them back to life! I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. Working with my hands is what brings me the most happiness. Even when I was a little kid I would lock my self in my room and just make stuff. I asked for pliers and tools for my birthday instead of toys. I never lost that. I still want to make things my tastes have just evolved. I make clothes now. I design. I want to turn that into a career. That's the ultimate goal. But until then I’ll post my projects and what I’m working on. Or any fun crafts I create.
Hey I am Sadie. This feels oddly similar to a tinder bio which I was not great at. The stress of trying to present my self and come across as like cool and hip in less than 1000 characters is too much, so just like read my blog okay?
